Client Background

SunPower Corporation is one of the largest global solar players with offices in North America, Europe, Australia and Asia. It designs and manufactures high-efficiency crystalline silicon photovoltaic cells, roof tiles and solar panels based on a silicon all-back-contact solar cell. It has the largest U.S. residential and commercial installed base, with over 100,000 residential systems installed.

SunPower has a diversified global portfolio leading residential, commercial and utility solar energy markets with the world’s highest efficiency solar cells featuring SunPower Maxeon cell technology.

Challenges

SunPower was experiencing operational inefficiencies and decided that it needed a single Business Intelligence (BI) reporting tool since their existing reports suffered from:

  • Unintuitive, user un-friendly interfaces
  • Poor data quality
  • Inconsistent data governance methods
  • Irrelevant data

SunPower sorely needed to solve the aforementioned issues as they were adversely affected by slow decision making and a lack of global data visibility across their geographically separated business entities.

SunPower invited Triniti during the finalization of the solution implementation stage.

The Triniti team then leveraged its expertise in the BI space together with its strong technical understanding of the Oracle database platform and performed the following:

  • Created a single dashboard that gives one-stop access to all of SunPower’s data
  • Developed multiple dashboards across various areas of operations – Planning, Manufacturing, Purchasing and Finance
  • Elaborated one of the dashboards of Accounts Payable which involves shifting through 20-40 screens to get to the desired information within Oracle applications
  • Provided agile, flexible solutions within the estimated timeframe
